About Carl A. Harvey II

My day job is a library media specialist at North Elementary School in Noblesville, Indiana. At school, I serve as co-chair of the School Improvement Committee and chair of the Media/Tech Advisory Committee. I’ve held many roles in our state professional organization including: President of the Association for Indiana Media Educators and the Indiana Library Federation. For AASL, I’ve served as chair of the Affiliate Assembly and co-chair for the 2007 NationaConference in Reno, NV. I enjoy writing and have published several articles in journals including School Library Journal, Library Media Connection, School Library Media Activities Monthly, and Teacher-Librarian. My two books — The Library Media Specialist in the Writing Process (co-authored with Marge Cox and Susan Page) (2007) and No School Library Left Behind: Leadership, School Improvement, and the Media Specialist (2008) are both published by Linworth Publishing. Our library media program has received several awards including the prestigious National School Library Media Program of the Year. I started working at the Speedway Public Library in Speedway, Indiana when I was in high school and still work part-time. For a more detail resume, check out my website - http://www.carl-harvey.com.   In my free time, I enjoy playing with my nephew and caring for my grandparents. The blog title comes from my uncontrollable habit of collecting neckties. I have over 220 different ties that have colors, creatures, and anything else all over them. I always seem to find new ones every place I go!
