I have been trying for weeks to sign this petition. I have an account, I log in, I go to the petition, and the little box to sign it isn’t clickable. I log in again, and it takes me back to repeat the process. I am extremely frustrated. I’ve deleted my history, cookies, and cleared my cache/rebooted my system. I’ve also tried using every browser I know as well as several other devices. Any suggestions?

Please support school libraries. Libraries are places that children can choose books for free and expand their horizons. Because of budget cut backs in school districts and communities, school libraries need support for technology, reference material, and general collection.

We have some folks experience some issues with the site. We don’t have a lot of answers, but have suggested waiting a few days and trying again and trying a different browser as that sometimes has helped! Thanks for your support of the petition.

Tomorrow, one of my students is giving his senior project presentation on education reform. The topic HE came up with is saving school libraries. Part of the project includes having an action plan to support their recommendations.

On Friday, I showed him the petition and he added it to his Power Point and will be handing out bookmarks with the petition’s Web address.

What are some ideas you have for encouraging people to sign the petition?

‘Reading is fundamental’, as I’m sure you know. Those of you who’ve worked with deaf & hard of hearing students & adults also know how the lack of competent reading/writing skills pose on the employability of this population.
The media centers and school libraries are fundamental in support of this populations’ right to a free & appropriate education as guaranteed under the law.

School libraries and librarians are a vital necessity for the future of our children. Reading and being able to understand the use of newer technology in the library setting will determine the ability of our children to be successful, productive citizens, or NOT.
